14 EN SVĚTLO 2014/1 accessories of lighting installation About Foxtrot Foxtrot is a dance, foxtrot is a rhythm. Regarding connection „Tecomat Foxtrot“, it is a small modular powerful and very flexible general purpose free programma-ble control system. It is a ninth generation of programmable logic controllers (PLC) from Kolin, Czech Republic. First control-lers of line NS-9xx has been developed and manufactured since 1976. In 1993 compa-ny Teco has followed this history and since that time all control systems from Teco have product line name Tecomat. All sys-tems since 2003 are being developed and manufactured according to international standards IEC 61131-3. From its core, it is still industrial PLC for industry automa-tion, automation of machines, processes, transportation and buildings. But not only that. It is often used as a telemetry system and from its beginning it is native integrated into Ethernet and internet networks. It has its own web server and especially free programmable user web pages, which may be used as a main human control in-terface, so the user can touch and control the control system and all connected tech-About Foxtrot, about dimming and about Parliament nologies via wall touch displays, tablets, smart phones or smart TVs. Foxtrot has been designated for DIN rail mounting and has the same profile as circuit breakers. It may be installed into a common control cabinets. It was an original idea of development engineers: us-ing of Foxtrot in system installations of buildings, houses and flats. Automation of these is fast developing market, usual-ly marked as Smart buildings, Intelligent installation, Smart living etc.For such kind of application system Foxtrot is equipped by two wires instal-lation bus CIB – Common Installation Bus ® . For this bus there are available many useful peripheral modules with in-puts and outputs including power out-puts. They may be placed at any place in the building, where we need: into control cabinets, installation plastic box on the wall, under sockets and wall switches and also under other device covers. There are available modules with high protection IP65 for outside use – outside tempera-ture sensors, humidity sensors or light in-tensity sensors. All of them are connected by two wires with free topology with no need of termi-nation of ends. Via this wire all modules are powered and communicate with a cen-tral module. Type of communication is master-slave (control and controlled de-vice). Central module has at any time in-formation of any changes, any sensored value and any commands. Modules in this line are delivered under product line name CFox ® . Under product line name RFox ® are delivered modules which communicates with cen-tral module wireless on frequency 868 MHz. Sys-tem Foxtrot then may control by itself modules wireless and bus connect-ed installation of home automation.Of course, central modules of system Foxtrot are equipped by many different serial communica-tion interfaces. That’s why we may connect and con-trol security systems, air conditioning units, boilers, heating pumps or multimedia audio video systems. In sys-tem Foxtrot there is integrated even inter-face to standard KNX, so system Foxtrot may communicate with any KNX module from more than 7 000 registered products in KNX world at KNX.org.Fig. 1.
